How Our School Nurses Support Students
School nurses help promote student health, provide support for medical needs, and work with families and school staff to help students safely participate in the school day.
Student Health
School nurses support students with illnesses, injuries, medications, chronic health conditions, and other health needs that may affect participation in school.
Health Screenings
School health services may include screenings and other preventive health activities designed to identify concerns that could affect student learning and well-being.

School nurses help coordinate health plans, emergency health needs, communication with families, and procedures that support a safe school environment.
When Should I Contact the School Nurse?
Please contact your child's school nurse when there is health information that may affect your child's safety, care, or participation at school. This may include:
- A new or ongoing medical condition
- A need for prescription or emergency medication at school
- Severe allergies or asthma
- Diabetes, seizure disorders, or other chronic conditions
- A recent hospitalization, surgery, or significant injury
- Changes in a student's health or treatment plan
- Questions about immunization requirements
- Questions about whether a student is well enough to attend school
