Parental Involvement Opportunities

Marksville Elementary School wants to form a partnership with parents to improve education for children; therefore, the following policy will be implemented in the school's Title I Program:

1)  Marksville Elementary School is a school wide Title I school.  This enables us to provide academic assistance to all students, as the need arises, by our Title I aides.

2)  Marksville Elementary is a Reading First school.  Title I aides are an integral part of the success of our Reading First program.

3)  An "open house" policy exists at Marksville Elementary School.  Parents are extended an open invitation to visit and observe classroom activities any time.

4)  Parents will be provided with progress reports on a weekly basis (Grades PreK-6) and an official report six times each year.

5)  Marksville Elementary will inform parents of any new program the parish implements at the school.

6)  Parent involvement activities wil be plannned to promote parental involvement throughout the school year.

7)  Activities will also provide opportunities for information and communication to parents.

K-3 students will be assessed in Reading during the week of May 5th. This will be our Spring Benchmark testing.  Kindergarten students will be tested in Nonsense Word Fluency; first, second and third graders will be tested in Oral Reading Fluency.  Parents should make every effort to have students at school every day during that week and ON TIME. 

Students in grades 3, 4, 5, & 6 will be assessed on the i-LEAP, and the LEAP tests during the week of March 10 - 14.  Teachers will be working on preparations for these tests during the first half of the year.  Parents may provide additional assistance by visiting the Louisiana Pass website.  It is accessible by clicking on the Louisiana Pass link provided in the right pane of this website under Technology Assistance
