No students shall be allowed to participate in commencement exercises until they have successfully completed a minimum of twenty-three (23) Carnegie units, as prescribed by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Special Education students must meet all program requirements to receive a certificate of completion and participate in commencement exercises.

Graduation exercises in the public high schools will be held not more than eight (8) calendar days prior to the closing date of school unless an emergency should arise, in which case more time may be granted by the Superintendent.  A parish graduation shall be held in August for all students who did not graduate in May, but became eligible to graduate by August.  This would include those students who went to summer school and passed as well as those students who passed the LEAP examination.

The Avoyelles Parish School Board, recognizing the limits of space and seating arrangements for exercises involving large groups of people, has granted permission to the various principals for restricting attendance at graduation.

Students who have enrolled in post-secondary institutions prior to graduation from high school shall be permitted to walk alphabetized with the other graduating seniors and be specially recognized as early admissions graduates during graduation exercises.

Graduation ceremonies may be held for those eighth grade students who have successfully completed all eighth grade requirements.  Students who subsequently pass the Louisiana Education Assessment Program (LEAP) remediation requirements and qualify for promotion to ninth grade shall be permitted to participate in an eighth grade graduation ceremony scheduled during the summer.
