The Avoyelles Parish Adult Education Center will hold registration for high school equivalency diploma classes beginning August 11th-August 29th from 8:00am-2:00pm for the Marksville Day Classes. These classes will begin after Labor Day. Classes are held Monday-Thursday 8am-12:00pm. Registration thereafter will be held every Friday beginning at 8:30 am.
Registration for day classes at the Technical College in Cottonport will be held on August 11th and 13th from 8am to 2pm. Students must attend both registration days and must qualify on the placement test to enroll in this class. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays 8am-12pm and is a nine week semester class to prepare students for a high school equivalency diploma (HiSET). Registration for the first nine weeks is closed. The next registration for this class begins Oct. 13th.
Night classes and registration are held from 5pm-8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at Riverside Elementary in Simmesport for the first and third nine weeks. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Bunkie Elementary for the first and third nine weeks, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Louisiana Technical College in Cottonport for the second and fourth nine weeks, and every Thursday at the Marksville Adult Education Center.
* Students must be 18 to enroll in Adult Education classes. All 16 and 17 year olds must contact Mrs. Debbie Bain, Supervisor of Child Welfare, at the School Board Office for age waiver qualifications. All students who completed the Youth Challenge Program but did not receive a high school equivalency diploma are eligible to enroll and homeschooled students who have completed their home school study program. Adult Education (HiSET) Registration and Classes:
Registration for the Adult Education at the Technical College in Cottonport will be held on August 11th and 13th beginning at 8:00. Students must attend both days of registration/orientation. Classes begin on August 18th and are held every Monday and Wednesday for a nine week period from 8am-12pm. Students must qualify to be in this class according to placement scores on the TABE test given at time of registration. The goal of this class is to have the student prepared to take the HiSET exam within nine weeks. Instructor: Mr. Joe Head

All classes are from 5-8pm
Requirements:Students must be 18 or older to enroll. All 16 and 17 year old students must contact Mrs. Debbie Bain, Supervisor of Child Welfare, for eligibility rules on receiving an age waiver to attend Adult Education (not every 16 and 17 year old is issued an age waiver to attend. This is based on eligibility.) Students who have completed YCP and did not receive the HiSET diploma are eligible to enroll. Also, students who have completed home school study with proof of completion are eligible to enroll in classes.
